Welcome to the 63rd Annual International HEEP Conference - "Tradewinds in Transportation Technology".
If you have ever attended an IHEEP conference, you are already
aware this event brings together one of the most diverse groups
of influencers, who are "Advancing Innovation" through better processes
and technology advancements. This includes people who are implementing
innovations at the International, Federal, State and local levels
of government, engineering consulting firms and our technology partners.
The environment of the event facilitates peer exchange of information amongst all parties, and allows participants to synergize to advance infrastructure by providing an event conducive to this sharing of information. This is a unique opportunity that brings together people who can and do influence change in our field.
IHEEP 2022 Presidents Message
Welcome - You are cordially invited to the 63rd Annual International HEEP Conference. Florida is proud to host the 2022 International Highway Engineering Exchange Program (IHEEP) annual conference. Our planning committee is excited about the program we have planned. You don’t want to miss this one!
The theme for 2022 is “Tradewinds in Transportation Technology”. As individual professionals in our respective workplaces we have similar project challenges, successes, and failures. Delegates attending the IHEEP conferences learn from others who are tasked with similar work and share relevant experiences. IHEEP 2022 will again be full of opportunities to learn about the prevailing trends in transportation technology to support our infrastructure needs.
The conference is located near Fort Myers, Florida. However, the venue is in Punta Rassa, located at the west end of a peninsula bordered to the north by the Caloosahatchee River,
to the west by San Carlos Bay, and to the south by the Gulf of Mexico. The hotel sits at the east end of the Sanibel Causeway, which crosses San Carlos Bay to Sanibel and Captiva Islands.
Sanibel, the city, was incorporated in 1974 and established a conservation Land Use Plan, helping to maintain a balance between development and preservation of the island's ecology.
There are few places left to experience natural Florida as did our ancestors. This area is one of the remaining gems. We choose this location over other popular Florida destinations for that specific reason.
September weather in this area is enjoyable; highs 88°F days, lows 73°F nights. Please bring guests and plan to come early or stay longer. Our guest program is filled with cool stuff and the area has great fishing, wonderful beaches, wildlife refuges, water and nature tours, spectacular sunsets, and a short drive to other attractions in Tampa, Miami, Orlando, etc. Or you can take a boat ride to Key West from Fort Myers while you’re in the area.
The annual IHEEP conference always delivers and you gain personal and professional relationships from the experience. Please make your plans for 2022 and come experience a little bit of the natural Florida that we love so much.
Vern Danforth, 2022 HEEP President.
